In a quest for clear skin, I’ve discovered a green tea called Matcha tea. It comes in powder form, tastes kind of earthy, and has lots of health benefits:
- High in antioxidants
- Increases energy level
- Enhances mood
- Boosts immune system
- Stimulates metabolism
- Detoxifies
- Boosts concentration
- Improves skin
- Lowers cholestorol
Tastes delicous and it’s healthy?? Count me in!
The problem was, no matter how vigorously I stirred, the tea would settle to the bottom. So it would start out perfect, then get a little weak, and then the last 2 sips were like
and I’d be checking my teeth in the mirror to see if they are green.
But I’m happy to announce that I’ve found the solution: a self-stirring cup! I press the button every few minutes to give it a stir and it keeps my tea perfectly mixed right down to the last drop! Here’s the one I bought and so far it’s working perfectly.
The quality of the mug is ‘meh’ (it’s no Tervis or Yeti), but the mixing feature works great and that’s the reason I bought it – to stir without a spoon. Some Amazon reviewers have mentioned the battery area getting wet and ruining the mixer, so I’m just being very careful when I wash it and not submerging in water. The mug runs on 2 AAA batteries, and the stirring is controlled by a button on the handle which can be pressed with the thumb from a normal holding position (one-handed operation). Easy peasy.
The mixing paddle (more like a mixing pellet) stays in place via magnet – so it’s very easy to clean the mug, just literally reach in and remove the pellet before washing the inside of the mug. I like this design because there’s zero chance of liquid getting into the stirring mechanism from inside the mug.
Here’s the tea I’ve been drinking. The taste is delicious, with a mild earthy flavor and no bitterness.
Generally the more affordable teas tend to be bitter; it’s rare to find a nice smooth matcha at this price so I highly recommend this one if you want a good matcha tea or matcha latte! I started drinking this instead of coffee in the morning and it seems to really start my day right. It has a calming effect emotionally and an energizing effect physically.
For those looking to reduce sugar intake, here’s a tasty and convenient stevia alternative. I use this in my matcha latte each morning (and yes, I do buy almost everything on amazon, haha!).
And here’s a nice coconut milk powder to give your latte a creamy finish.
Coconut milk is also good for the skin, but it has a lot of calories so I'm only using this occasionally as a treat. And you can of course buy liquid coconut milk, but the powder has a longer shelf life and is easy to store (which is always important in small spaces). 🙂
So there you have it, my morning matcha latte routine - including new fancy mug. 😀
