Kayaking on the Wekiva

Today Logan, Jacob, James and I spent the day Kayaking on the Wekiva River. We brought a cooler filled with cold drinks and subs from Subway, and had plenty of towels and of course the usual safety supplies. We put the kayaks in at Wekiva Island and paddled east down the river, stopping about 1/4 mile down to eat lunch and swing from a rope (yes, just like Tarzaan – except rope instead of vine). It was a fun day, and although I didn’t get much activity on my fitbit I feel like we all got a good amount of exercise and some much-needed playtime.

Here’s a picture of Jacob trying to get a ladybug to crawl onto his finger. I got a kick out of how determined he was to hold this little bug. He tried and tried, but ultimately the ladybug flew away. :-/

Here’s a nice picture of Logan kayaking. I can’t believe how fast this kid is growing up.

Here are a few pictures of us swinging from the rope. It was actually quite fun and the water felt refreshing, especially after being in the hot sun for a few hours!

The boys tried swinging together... it didn't quite work out.

Logan, watch out for that boat full of people!!!

On our way back to Wekiva Island Logan was too tired to paddle so he switched places with Jacob, which meant Jacob was paddling a kayak alone for the first time ever. He actually did a fantastic job despite the fact that we were going upstream! This kid’s level of determination can sometimes be a challenge to deal with, but when he uses it for things like this it’s amazing what he can accomplish!
