Today I headed out to Blue Springs State Park for some much-needed time on the St. Johns River. I was going to bring my own kayak but decided to just rent one instead and save the hassle of loading and unloading. No regrets.
The spring water was crystal clear and there were TONS of fish today! Lots of under water vegetation, too – you can tell manatee season is right around the corner (starts in November).
And of course there were lots of longnose gar fish, per normal. It’s hard to tell in the photo but the longnose gar is several feet long.
I just thought this was an interesting looking tree stump.
This baby turtle was so cute. I think he’s holding on for dear life… I hope he eventually figured out how to get down from there!
This was my favorite photo of the day.
I took this one with my Samsung Galaxy S3 (cell phone) and applied a faux HDR effect. I like it! Oh and yes I did bring my own paddle to use with the rental kayak. 😉
This is a front-facing camera pic from my phone:
Ok, so it wasn’t my happiest day ever… but I did have a nice time kayaking.
