Christmas with Jacob, Mom, and Bill

Mom and Bill came to visit from New Mexico! They arrived Christmas Eve and had to leave Christmas morning – a very short visit but we were glad to have the chance to spend Christmas with them. Logan was still in Minnesota so it was just the 4 of us.

The evening of Christmas Eve we enjoyed the Florida weather poolside. It was in the 70s while the sun was out, but after sunset the temperature started to drop.

Jacob went to bed early (his idea, not ours) but despite his early night he was the last one to wake up Christmas morning! This worked out well because everyone was able to get a cup of coffee and ease into the day before the gift-opening began.

Just like when Logan and I had our Christmas on the 21st, I used Chromecast to project a fireplace and Christmas music to the TV.

Jacob was ready to get started – complete with knee socks and santa hat!

Bebe and Bill gave Jacob a huge pile of cash! SCORE!

He loved this Snap Circuits Set and has played with it for hours and hours! It came with over 300 projects and he’s done probably 20 of them so far (4 days post-Christmas). I wasn’t sure if he would like it or not because Logan had one of these years ago and didn’t play with it at all, but Jacob is completely enthralled.

Another big hit was this archery set. It came with 5 arrows but he used some of his Christmas money to buy 6 more, so now he has 11.

Jacob gave me a beautiful handmade bracelet and ring set. Notice how he addressed the giftbox – when he was putting it in the tree (his choice of location for the small boxes) he said “I don’t know why I did that”, haha!

He also gave me this beautiful bamboo water feature (thank you, Mark). Jacob reminded me about 20 times that it’s “very sooooothing”. He followed me around with it and plugged it in wherever I went. So cute.IMG_20131227_221138-MOTION

After celebrating Christmas at our house and saying goodbye to my mom and Bill, we headed over to my dad and Polly’s house for Christmas with that side of the family. For some reason I didn’t get many photos – maybe because that’s about the time I started to develop a pretty bad head cold. It was nice seeing my sisters and family; I would have liked to stay longer but I needed to get Jacob to Mark and my head felt like it was on the verge of exploding.

I brought Jacob to Mark’s house to celebrate Christmas there, then I came home to rest my congested head. That night James came over to celebrate Christmas with me; we had a very nice low-key night.

It was another great Christmas, full of love and quality family time. Now it’s time to celebrate all the new adventures 2014 will bring!
